Proverbs 31:10-31 KJV The Virtuous Woman
10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
About the Lydia Ladies:
On September 23, 1968, a group of ladies met at the parsonage to discuss the possibility of forming a ladies missionary society. Thus the Lydia Ladies Missionary Society came into existence. Officers were elected and plans made for them to serve the Lord and the Church.
Lydia was a wealthy and gentile lady who made and sold purple goods (Acts 16:14-40). She and her household were baptized by Paul. Her house was the first meeting place of Christians in Europe. We missionary ladies still today count it an honor to be called the “Lydia Ladies”.
Our focus is to provide support for the community, missionaries (local & abroad), church membership and each other through community outreach, missionary funds/goods drives, church event planning and monthly devotionals during our meetings.
We are always delighted to have new ladies join the committee. If you would like to attend our next meeting, please see one of the ladies of the church before or after any of the services on Sunday or Wednesday Evening.
We are gearing up to attend the Ladies’ Retreat in Dupont, Indiana at Dupont Baptist Church. This is such a blessing to all of our ladies when we attend! It is March 5 & 6. If you are interested in going, please see Ms. Lisa for a registration form. The cost is $15.00 for pre-registration (Lisa must receive your form and money before February 14) or $20.00 at the door. This includes dinner and a continental breakfast. We will be staying in a motel over night and typically the cost is $15.00. We will be sharing several rooms. We will have lunch at Ryan’s and then browse the Edinburg Outlet Mall on the way back. We will have more information on when we will be leaving and how we are getting there as the time draws closer.
Our 2010 Officers are posted in the Vestibule. Please check this list to see if you have been selected for a position. If you aren’t sure of what the duties are in your position for the year, please see Sister Lori. Thank you to all who have accepted their positions for this year. Remember, you are serving for the glory of God.
